If you are like me, you appreciate Cliff notes, so here they are, short \u2018n sweet:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>You\u2019re probably not a high school athlete anymore.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>Be sensible, \u2018nuff said.<\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Your body will change when you challenge it, not when you punish it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>One of my favorite quotes is, \u201cYou can\u2019t expect 100% results with 50% of the effort.\u201d Training is like life, you get out of it what you put into it. <\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>Exercise is just a stimulus. Nutrition and sleep are what actually change your body.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>Train to change your body, then fuel and recover (sleep) properly to allow your body and hormones to do their thing.<\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>Sometimes, doing an exercise wrong is worse than not doing it at all.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>I\u2019ve been certified for over 20 years, but will be first to admit I don\u2019t know it all and I love to learn new ways to train and\/or a better way. Don\u2019t be afraid to seek help. Keep learning &amp; sharpen the saw.<\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>The sauna and steam room can help you recover faster.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>Heat speeds recovery, lowers oxidation, increases growth hormone, and is detoxifying. Plus, it makes your body inhospitable to unwelcomed bacteria and viruses.<\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li>Nutrition and supplementation can lessen the muscle soreness.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>This subject alone could be a year\u2019s worth of blogs. Let food be they medicine and medicine be thy food. If you do supplement, consider <a href=\"http:\/\/www.livestrong.com\/article\/92892-curcumin-benefits\/\">curcumin<\/a> and\/or coconut oil.<\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li>You don\u2019t have to be a runner, but you should view the process of getting fit as a marathon, and not a sprint.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>You didn\u2019t get where you are overnight, so don\u2019t expect overnight results.
