You can \u201ccatch\u201d good health and fitness, as well. \u00a0Turns out you can reap benefits whether your social network is\u00a0in close physical proximity or virtual. Compelling stuff.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #818181; font-family: Arial;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #818181; font-family: Arial;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2007\/07\/25\/health\/25cnd-fat.html?_r=0\">New York Times Article<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #818181; font-family: Arial;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #818181; font-family: Arial;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ucsdnews.ucsd.edu\/archive\/newsrel\/soc\/07-07ObesityIK-.asp\">UCSD News Center Article<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #818181; font-family: Arial;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #818181; font-family: Arial;\">So\u2026 unhealthy behavior is quite communicable. According to the studies, your chance of becoming obese increases:<\/span><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #818181; font-family: Arial;\">57 % when one of your friends is obese<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #818181; font-family: Arial;\">40 % chance if it\u2019s one of your siblings, and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #818181; font-family: Arial;\">37 % if it\u2019s your spouse. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But hey, before you start looking around\u2026remember the flip side. Because health and behavior are linked so closely, that means that\u00a0<i>any<\/i> health state connected to habitual behaviors is communicable. (Big sigh, right?!)\u00a0 Even more good news: social connections can also <i>improve<\/i> your health. Think about how effective support groups are, right?\u00a0 People who hang around others who think positively also tend to think positively. (Yay) When he was taking nutrition, he said it was a breeze because he\u2019d picked up so much information through osmosis. I &lt;heart&gt; that. <\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #818181; font-family: Arial;\">\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/healthchicchatter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/IMG_0654.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-510\" src=\"http:\/\/healthchicchatter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/IMG_0654-168x300.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0654\" width=\"135\" height=\"241\" srcset=\"https:\/\/healthchicchatter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/IMG_0654-168x300.jpg 168w, https:\/\/healthchicchatter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/IMG_0654.jpg 539w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 135px) 100vw, 135px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #818181; font-family: Arial;\">Next time you\u2019re digging deep for a reason to go to the gym, or \u00a0or pack a\u00a0lunch instead of hitting the drive-thru, this may be a perspective to consider. Even if you\u2019re not hugely motivated to make a healthy choice for yourself, you may be a little more willing to do it for the sake of the people you care about \u2014 or even for those you don\u2019t know. According to the studies, your actions are influencing 1000 people.<\/span><span style=\"color: #818181; font-family: Arial;\">\u00a0That&#8217;s huge.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #818181; font-family: Arial;\">Take charge of your health and improve the world one healthy habit at a time.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #818181; font-family: Arial;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #818181; font-family: Arial;\">To my fit friends who inspire or motivate me to eat clean, run, lift, train harder, or get to bed sooner: <em>THANK<\/em> you.
